Data privacy

This document specifies the rules for processing of personal data for website users of www.supportingabortions.eu. It also explains what data is collected, the legal basis under which it is collected, and who the personal data administrator is. Furthermore, it outlines with whom the data can be shared, how long it is kept, what the users' rights are and the rules of using cookies. The policy does not apply to websites or activities of other organisations to which SAFE refers. These organisations implement their own privacy policy, which you yourself must take note of.

Protection of privacy and confidentiality of personal data by SAFE is in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation. SAFE is a registered Dutch Charity.

SAFE uses your data so that we can provide you as a donor, supporter, partner org or funding applicant with a good service and to inform you (if you request) about our work. SAFE takes your privacy very seriously.

In this privacy statement, we would like to inform you of what data we hold about you and why we need it to be of service to you. If you would like to request a copy of your data, would like to correct or delete your data, please contact us at admin@supportingabortions.eu.

Data processing
SAFE processes personal data for the administration of our donor records system, our partner application process, the funding of other organisations and individuals, and to provide information about our work and campaigns.

SAFE has taken appropriate technical and organisational measures to ensure the security of the systems in which personal data are stored. We ensure that personal data are only accessible to employees who are authorised to do so by their job and that we only use the personal data for the purposes for which they were collected, i.e. for the purposes of entering into an agreement.

Subscribing and unsubscribing to digital newsletters
There are various places on our website (www.supportingabortions.eu) where you can subscribe to digital newsletters from SAFE by leaving your email address. Each message contains an unsubscribe link that allows you to unsubscribe from the email subscription at any time – we are pro-choice on newsletter subscribing.

If you are an applicant, donor or supporter and have signed up to receive marketing communications from SAFE, you will be informed by email about our campaigns and other activities. You can unsubscribe from these emails at any time by clicking on the unsubscribe link in each message, or by contacting admin@supportingabortions.eu.

Donor data
Some data of donors and supporters will be managed by our donor platform, Donor Box. You will be provided with information of how your data will be stored and used by Donor Box when you sign up to make a donation and will be able to update your communication preferences at any time.

New donors will receive a welcome message from SAFE via email confirming the donation.  
SAFE informs our donors and supporters about our work via our newsletter, by email, and very occasionally by post and/or telephone. Donors and supporters are able to update their communication preferences at any time. SAFE is an organisation that is completely dependent on donations from private individuals, governments and institutional donors for its income. Donors will be contacted several times per year to requests funding, unless they unsubscribe.

Changing, viewing or deleting data
If you have questions about the processing of your personal data, if you want to know which personal data SAFE processes, or if you want to change or delete your data, please contact admin@supportingabortions.eu. SAFE is required to request proof of identity before we can allow you access to the personal information we hold in our records, also when you wish to delete your data. Some data cannot be deleted immediately by SAFE, for instance data required to be stored for a certain number of years for tax reporting purposes.

How long do we keep your data?
We will only keep your personal data for as long as necessary to fulfil its purpose, including for the purposes of satisfying any legal, accounting or reporting requirements.
In some circumstances we may anonymise your personal information so that it can no longer be linked to you, in which case we are free to use this without notifying you.
When the retention period for the relevant data is up, your data will be securely destroyed in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

Security
SAFE has put in place technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against loss or any form of unlawful processing. We ensure any third parties we work with have robust Data Protection policies and security protocols.

Our entire website, including our donation page, secures data by using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). This is a protocol that guarantees secure communication over the internet and is designed to prevent eavesdropping, interference or falsification of messages. If you are on a secure page such as our donation form, then your browser needs to notify you that you are on a safe site.

SAFE uses SSL to protect sensitive information online and also protects user information offline. There is restricted access to all of your data, not only the sensitive information such as payment details. Only employees who need the information to perform a certain task have access to this personal information.

Cookies
Cookies are small text files that can be used by websites to make a user's experience more efficient.

The law states that we can store cookies on your device if they are strictly necessary for the operation of this site. For all other types of cookies, we need your permission.

This website does not currently use cookies. Should we use cookies in the future we will notify any visitor to www.supportingabortions.eu of their existence.

We may use embedded content such as YouTube videos. SAFE is not responsible for and has no control over the cookies placed by platforms such as YouTube when you click on this content.

As a donor, recipient of our newsletter or other online communications, or as a grant or partnership applicant/recipient, you hereby accept this privacy statement and give SAFE your consent to collect, store and process your information in the ways described above and for the purposes you agree with.

Which cookies does SAFE use?
SAFE uses Google Analytics to collect anonymised information about, for example, the date and time of your visit to our website and which pages you have viewed. SAFE may use this data to improve the website, to compile traffic statistics and to estimate the popularity of the various parts of the site.
